Hotel - Sol Club Las Sirenas

Our hotel was part of the Spanish Melia chain of hotels. They have several in Cuba and have a reputation of being of superior quality for the area. It was an all-inclusive facility, which provided food and drink in the price of the accomodations.

We recommend that you ask to see your room when you check in, as we were originally (Sunday) placed in what might be considered an older part of the hotel. The room was rather dark and there were air conditioning units located just outside our bedroom. We asked to be moved to another area, and so we moved on Tuesday. What a difference...our room was in the main area of the hotel, on the second floor and was much better. We had a nice balcony, which overlooked the front of the hotel, trees reaching the top providing nice privacy.

There was a large buffet-style restaurant featuring american foods. There was always chicken, fish, beef, veal etc... available for lunch and supper. The breakfast items were also very good. In addition to the buffet restaurant, you could make reservations to attend either the Chinese or Italian restaurants. Looking back, I preferred the Buffet restaurant because of the wide variety of foods available, with the Italian taking a close second choice and finally the Chinese. The main drawback of the Chinese restaurant was the presentation aspect of the food, it was a little on the grey side, but the taste wasn't bad at all... the spring rolls and the wonton soup were delicious.
