As a tourist in Cuba, you should be careful in purchasing cigars, as we were approached no less than 4 times by blackmarket cigar vendors while we were in the Market area downtown. Most times, these cigars are not authentic, and will undoubtedly contain things other than tobacco leaves. As well, when leaving Cuba, if you are asked to produce a receipt for the cigars that you've purchased, and you don't have a valid receipt from a legitimate dealer, you can kiss those items goodbye.
